From Oxford University Press, Very Short Introductions offer concise introductions to a diverse range of subject areas - a bridge between reference content and higher academic work. Call Numbers

The Library uses Library of Congress Call Numbers to classify books.  These call number ranges will help you find the right spot to browse the stacks, but remember that we have a lot of online books that aren't physically in the library - these can only be found by searching Omni.


  • PC 2000-3700 is the section for French Language.
  • PC 4000 is the section for Spanish Language.
  • PD is the section for German Language.


  • PN 1-6790 is General Literature, but literature is also organized by country.
  • PQ 1-3000 is French Literature.
  • PQ 6000-8000 is Spanish Literature, including Spanish America.
  • PT 1-4000 is German Literature.


The majority of our e-books are found through Omni.

The following resources contain collections of ebooks. Most offer the option to create an account for yourself and save books, as well as adding notations and highlighting.  In many cases, searching ebooks directly from these sites searches within the book, rather than just the description of a book.  You may find links to specific chapters or pages within books.
