The Social Services Division serves the City and County of Peterborough and is located in the Charlotte Mews, in the heart of downtown Peterborough. Staff at the division work with people in the community who need help with the cost of food, shelter, child care or finding a job. Information about services and access to reports & research.

The Social Services Department provides services to more than 25,000 residents of Durham Region each month. At some point in their lives, many of these residents may require one or more of the services provided by the Social Services Department's six divisions: Business Affairs & Financial Management, Children’s Services, Family Services, Housing Services, Income & Employment Support, and Long-Term Care & Services for Seniors, which are committed to the delivery of professional and high-quality services.

Five Counties is a children’s treatment centre serving Peterborough, City of Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland and Haliburton Counties. Some children may need specialized services to reach their potential. For more than 37 years the Centre has been known for excellence and high quality services.

Through research and community engagement, United Way Peterborough & District identified three key practices to focus our efforts and investments to evolve our United Way beyond the traditional role of funder and deepen our role as an agent of change within the community.

Simply, our role in the community is to provide a means by which those who so choose may help those who are less advantaged in our community.

The Institute works to promote excellence in the field of child protection and to improve outcomes for children and youth through a focus on research, program evaluation and evidence based practice.
