Tutorial: Finding Articles

Using Google Scholar to Find Articles

Google Scholar can be an excellent resource to find and locate scholarly information on the web. One of the main barriers you might encounter when using Google Scholar, is that there will be resources that you want to access, but they are behind a paywall. Please follow the steps below to link Google Scholar so that you are able to access full text online from Trent University Library's collections:

1) Go to Google Scholar
2) Click on the menu in the upper left corner of the page (three horizontal lines), and then select "Settings"

Next, set your library affiliation:

1) Click on "Library links" in the left menu
2) In the search box, enter "Trent University" and search
3) On the list of options it finds, select "Find It @ Trent (Omni) - Find It @ TrentU"
4) Save the setting

Now, when you search, your results will include links to Trent resources.

It is important to note that connecting Google Scholar to Trent University will give you access to any resources that the library is subscribed to, but you would not be able to access articles that are not part of our collection through Google Scholar. You will need to make an interlibrary loan request to request resources that are not in the Library's collection.
