Tutorial: Navigating from a Citation to a Document

You have a citation to an article, either in a journal or a book. How do you find that article in the Library's resources?

Navigating from a Citation to a Book

When you have a citation, and you've identified that the document is a book, it's pretty simple to look for it in the Library Catalogue.

  • See the Library Catalogue tutorial on searching for titles.
  • Be sure to search for the book title, rather than the chapter title
  • You may need to look for a specific edition, also. Read the citation carefully.

If the book isn't available from the Trent Library, you can expand your search worldwide.  RACER provides the ability to search many library catalogues at once.  See other options linked below.
